Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appealed for more investment and greater infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region to stimulate its economic growth on October 6.
Speaking at the APEC Chief Executive Officers Summit in Bali, the Indonesian President said APEC needs to intensify efforts to encourage investment into the region so as to maintain growth and create jobs.
He also underlined the need to develop more and better infrastructure as an essential element for promoting regional connectivity, which will not only help to facilitate trade and investment but also foster job creation.
He stressed that APEC should improve the investment environment and promote the private sector, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum has to enhance policy consultancy and coordination between the 21 member economies to reach its remarkable growth rates.
