The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of Indonesia on June 9 summoned Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik for questioning as a witness over a corruption case relating to the 2013 amendments to the State Budget allocated to his Ministry.Wacik told reporters that he had been asked to clarify the gas price fixing procedure in the February bribery case.
The case involved Rudi Rubiandini, head of the oil and gas regulator SKK Migas and former Energy and Mineral Resources Deputy Minister, who was accused of receiving 522,500 USD from Artha Meris Simbolon, director of PT Kaltim Parna Industry to offer him a preferential gas price.
KPK earlier also questioned former Secretary General of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Waryono Karno in connection with the case.
If found guilty, the suspects will be sentenced a maximum of 20 years in prison and fined 1 billion rupiah (84,000 USD).
