Update: 20-04-2011 | 00:00:00

IPs-based workers’ Mini Football Tournament 2011 held by the provincial industrial parks’ trade union left good impressions on laborers.

Joy with ball

On April 17, thousands of laborers across Song Than, Binh Duong, Dong An industrial parks… early convened at Phuong Nam artificial football ground in Di An town to join in the opening ceremony of the tournament. Determination was witnessed on players’ face. Outside the football ground was fans’ enthusiastic encouragement. Player Nguyen Ngoc Nhan from Hyun Vina SJC said ‘we are looking forward to compete in the tournament. We often practice for twice a week, owing to shift work increase; we often end rehearsals at about 10 p.m’. ‘For workers living away from home like us, ball is our best friend’, added he.

Football tournaments for workers are not lack of excellent goals.

Attacker Tran Van Thuan from Yaban Chain Company could not control his joy after scoring a goal. Despite modest income, these workers spent their wage to pay for hiring football grounds in order to practice better.

Female players

At this tournament, thousands of fans gathered at football matches for female players. These fans came for the football festive day. Every day, female workers are patient to work at factories like mason bees and take care for their husbands and children at home but when wearing football uniforms, they showed their strength.

Nearly 3 weeks of practice, Phan Le Ngoc Duy, Tran Thuy Minh Tam… from Schenker Gemadept Logistics were forced to take their children to football ground, owing to shortage of help from their relatives.

Le Thi Thom, goalkeeper for Framas Company shared ‘every April 30 holiday, we enjoy practice and competition. We join in the tournament to share and meet our fellow-countrymen’.

Le Nho Luong, head of the tournament, said ‘the traditional tournament has created a healthy playground for laborers. We will make efforts to further develop the tournament in the coming years. We intend to hold other sport competitions to bring more playgrounds for workers’.
