Jakarta warns residents of coastal flooding

Update: 28-12-2024 | 19:58:50

The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Jakarta has asked residents in coastal areas to remain alert for coastal flooding until January 3, 2025.

The Tanjung Priok Meteorological Station of Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issues an early warning of coastal flooding from December 26, 2024 to January 3, 2025

The request was made in the context of continuous heavy rains in recent days, causing some residential areas to be flooded and water levels to rise in rivers.

Previously, the Tanjung Priok Meteorological Station of Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of coastal flooding from December 26, 2024 to January 3, 2025.

Coastal flooding could potentially occur in coastal areas of North Jakarta, such as Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, and Muara Angke, it said.

The BPBD has coordinated with local stakeholders, such as water resources offices, and deployed personnel to closely monitor the situation and respond to emerging situations. Residents are advised to immediately notify the authorities in case of flooding or need for assistance./.
