Joining hands to take care of the elderly

 To mark International Day for the Elderly, delegations of provincial leaders today, Oct.1, visit and present gifts to elderly people across the province. Possibly speaking, the province over time paid more attention to taking care of the spiritual and material lives of the local elderly.

 

Elderly people under good care

 

Over the past time, provincial Societies for the Elderly and its affiliates took good care of the lives of the local elderly people.

 

Tran Tan Thanh, of Thuan An district’s Society for the Elderly said that the whole district is home to 10,000 people aged above 60. The district over time provided free eye surgeries for nearly 300 members of the society. The society also paid more attention to its needy members through many significant activities, including providing charity meals, donating Tet gifts to poor members… On the occasion of International Day for the Elderly this year, the district’s leaders and the society also visited and presented gifts to 200 elderly people aged 91 and above…

 

TDM town and other districts of Di An, Tan Uyen, Ben Cat, Dau Tieng and Phu Giao over time also took good care of the lives of the local elderly people. Those who live in the province at the age of 85 and above will be granted health insurance cards and enjoy social insurance allowances. Along with visiting, encouraging, providing free medical check-ups and treatment…, provincial Societies for the Elderly also gave loans for poor members to develop homebased business.

 

Di An district’s Society for the Elderly since early this year has well carried out policies for the elderly. Particularly, the society provided free medical check-ups and treatment for hundreds of turns of members; organized tours for more than 1,000 turns of members…

 

Elderly people actively get involved movements

 

Over the past time, elderly people herein actively got involved in movements on mobilizing the local people to well realize the Party and State’s policies; carrying out hunger eradication and poverty reduction; setting up the fund for poor-but-excellent pupils; preventing social evils… Many localities also well upheld the role of the elderly in emulation movements of “Studying and following Uncle Ho’s teachings”, “All people unitize to build cultural lifestyle in residential areas”…

 

In addition, provincial Societies for the Elderly at all levels actively mobilized the elderly to take part in sports and cultural activities, contributing to helping them enjoy a joyful and healthy life…
