New regulation on fire prevention-fighting height for apartment buildings

The Ministry of Construction has just issued the Circular No.03/2021/ TT-BXD on the national technical regulation QCVN 04:2021/BXD on apartment buildings. Accordingly, the new point about the height of apartment buildings in fire prevention and fighting is stipulated as follows:

- When there is no door hole (window), the height for fire prevention and fighting is determined to be half of the total distance from the road surface for the fire truck to the floor and to the ceiling of the top floor. (Currently, Circular 21/2019 stipulates that when there is no door hole, the height of the highest floor is determined to be half of the total height of the floor and the ceiling of that floor).

- In case of the roof exploited for use, the fire prevention and fighting height of the house is determined by the maximum distance from the road surface for the fire truck to approach to the upper edge of the roof retaining wall (the new regulation compared to Circular 21/ 2019).

The Circular No.03/2021/TT-BXD takes effect from July 5 to replace the Circular No. 21/2019/TTBXD dated December 31, 2019.
