New teams promise thrilling robot contest finals

Update: 22-04-2013 | 00:00:00

The final round of the Vietnam Robot Contest 2013 is expected to produce exciting competition between teams from universities with a long history in creating robots and first time qualifiers for the contest.

The organisers of the Robocon contest said yesterday that 32 teams from universities and colleges across Vietnam will compete in the final rounds from May 6-12 in the central city of Da Nang.

Many of the Vietnamese teams come from universities that are participating in the contest for the first time including Hanoi Industrial Vocational College, Hai Duong University and Tran Dai Nghia University.

This year’s contest also welcomes the return of teams from top universities that did not make the finals in previous years, such as the Hanoi, Da Nang and HCMC Universities of Technology.

However, these teams are outnumbered by those from emerging universities.

For this year’s contest, the robots are designed to plant seeds on designated spots across the gaming field, and the first team to plant seeds on the moon wins the game.

The contest winner and runner-up will represent Vietnam at the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest, scheduled to take place in the same city from August 16-20.

A tech show on the sidelines of the competition will feature some of the best robots created by students from the various competing teams

This is the 12th consecutive year that Robocon has been organised jointly by Toyota Vietnam and Vietnam Television.
