Phu Giao leads 2017 provincial Karatedo tournament

The 2017 provincial Karatedo tournament has just concluded at Tan Uyen town’s Center for Culture and Sports after 3 days of fierce competition.

As a result, Phu Giao district took the lead at the tournament with 8 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. It was followed by Tan Uyen town with 6 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals; Thuan An towns with 3 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze medals.

This year’s tournament absorbed 135 athletes from 9 units across the province. They vied for 24 sets of medals in the events: women and men’s individual Kata; women and men’s team Kata; women and men’s individual Kumite; women and men’s team Kumite.

According to the organizers, the tournament aimed to promote the local Karate movement and seek the best athletes for the local Karate team. This was also a chance for the organizing board of the 5^th provincial Sports Festival 2018 to inspect and assess conditions on material facilities in order to prepare for the festival.
