The Vietnamese government will create the best possible conditions for Japanese businesses to invest in Vietnam, says Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
At an August 15 reception for Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yukio Edano, PM Dung said Vietnam is willing to strengthen investment cooperation with Japan in the form of public-private partnerships (PPP), while enhancing ties in other fields such as politics, diplomacy, , culture, tourism, and national defence and security.
The government leader spoke highly of the positive results from Edano’s working sessions with Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, stating that he will back the implementation of the agreements.
Highlighting the development of Vietnam-Japan strategic partnerships across all fields, PM Dung said both countries now have greater prospects. He proposed that they further promote cooperation in the interests of their respective peoples, and for the sake of peace, stability, and development in the region and the world as a whole.
He asked Japan to help promote Vietnamese products in their domestic market to balance trade, assist Vietnam to develop its industry, especially support industry, and increase official development assistance to improve the country’s infrastructure.
He also proposed that the two nations speed up major joint projects in rare earth exploitation, and express way and sea port production.
For his part, Minister Edano said his visit is aimed at accelerating bilateral cooperation. He said Japan will facilitate the distribution of Vietnamese products in his country, and work closely with the Southeast Asian nation to implement major projects.
**Also on August 15, Minister Yukio Edano attended a public-private partnerships dialogue between Vietnam and Japan in Hanoi, which, economists said, not only helps Vietnam perfect its policy framework but also assists Japanese investors in effectively implementing their projects in Vietnam.
Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh said in the recent time, international donors have continuously assisted Vietnam in building a public-private partnerships framework in accordance with international practices and the country’s situation.
Among those, Japan, which boasts a great deal of experience in implementing PPP, is always considered Vietnam’s leading partner, he stressed.
Yukio Edano said that Japan is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the areas of infrastructure, airport and road construction and electricity production to contribute to the Southeast Asian country’s industrialisation process.
