Update: 22-11-2013 | 00:00:00

Over the past 68 years, the whole country has built a management apparatus of cultural heritage from the central to local levels and gradually perfected the apparatus in conformity with real demands. A staff with high qualification was trained right from the resistance war period. Until now, the whole country has had thousands of managerial cadres of cultural heritage, many of whom have gained high degrees.

At present, in terms of the tangible culture the whole country has more than 4,000 national relics and over 5,000 provincial relics. Of these, there are 16 world cultural heritages and millions of valued old articles and artifacts being exhibited in museums, traditional houses. The country has recognized and honored 34 special national relics. In 2012 alone, the Government decided to rank 22 special national relics.

Especially, 2013 is the national tourism year of the Red River Delta – Hai Phong, themed “the Red River Civilization”, creating chances and impetuses to spur, develop, spread and build image and trademark of the region.

The provincial leaders survey exam models of D war zone statue – Binh Duong’s famous historic relic.

Since 1994, the Government has launched the national goal program on culture with the concrete goals of preventing deterioration of relics as well as preserving and promoting intangible cultural values.

Through the program, thousands of relics have been upgraded and hundreds of projects of collecting and preserving intangible cultural heritages have been launched and gained remarkable results. Many relics have become attractive tourism sites while numerous cultural heritages have placed jobs for thousands of people, contributing to local budget by selling entrance tickets, services on aviation, tourism and transport.

In Binh Duong, the work on cultural heritage preservation has been always focused by all level agencies and sectors. Until now, the province has had 50 cultural historic relics under ranking, 11 of which are the national relics and 39 are provincial ones.

In addition, the national relics have been under restoration and preservation. They include Hoi Khanh Temple, Phu Long Temple, Tran Cong Vang old house, Ben Cat southwestern tunnel, Ho Chi Minh campaign headquarters, D war zone and many more.

Meanwhile, the work on museum preservation has been invested, researched and preserved significantly. Many sets of collection have met demand on showcase. Annually, museums and relics across the province have lured thousands of visitors, especially students inside and outside of the province.

Nguyen Van Thuy, head of the provincial management board of relics and landscapes said that over the past time, Nov. 23 annually has been organized significantly and effectively to ensure requirements of educating tradition and national pride and awareness on cultural heritages for people.

Through the “Vietnamese cultural heritage day”, we should realize that cultural heritages have contained values invented by our ancestors. Custom, rites, clothes have showed distinctive values and identities and have been the national pride.

This year’s Vietnamese cultural heritage day, we will continue launching movements of “Building friendly schools and positive students” and “Nov. 23 homebound day” with main activities such as contest on young historians, lighting dreams of Binh Duong provincial children and many more as well as hold outdoor activities for students to learn about local cultural heritages and launch the 2013-2014 period emulation movements among students.
