Noteworthy results, Binh Duong is the first locality in Vietnam to be honored by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) as one of the 21 exemplary smart city development communities in the world; Binh Duong Smart Region has been honored 5 times in a row as one of the 21 exemplary smart city development communities in the world (Smart 21). In the 3 years 2021, 2022, and 2023, Binh Duong has been listed as one of the top 7 exemplary smart city development communities. In particular, during the Smart City Summit held in New York (USA) in October 2023, ICF officially honored Binh Duong with the title of Top 1 ICF 2023.

Connectivity expanded

In our conversation, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Toan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, informed us that the industry and trade sector has always made efforts to implement the task of economic integration in order to effectively exploit opportunities from free trade agreements (FTAs) that Vietnam participates in. In this regard, the sector focuses on implementing some key solutions to support export enterprises in consolidating key export markets; strengthening trade promotion activities and expanding markets from FTAs.

“We always provide timely market information and trade promotion information to help businesses expand their market, develop sources for export, meet quality requirements, increase value-added content, and ensure compliance with rules of origin to enjoy customs duty benefits under various FTAs. Along with that, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinates with relevant departments and agencies to support businesses in the certification of origin of goods and trade protection for exports; implement regulations on technical barriers, food safety regulations, environment, intellectual property, commitment to limit carbon emissions among others in export markets for businesses," Mr. Nguyen Thanh Toan said.

In recent times, the Binh Duong Department of Industry and Trade has always created favorable conditions for businesses to apply digital technology in the commercial sector. Becamex IDC Corporation is a pioneering unit that always takes the lead and innovates in the application of digital technology at the local level. The development of the World Trade Center in the new city of Binh Duong by Becamex IDC has contributed to the development of a new service ecosystem, closely linked to the smart city development strategy of the province. Mrs. Huynh Dinh Thai Linh, Director of the WTC in the new city of Binh Duong, said that after 5 years of formation and development, the WTC in the new city of Binh Duong has become a new destination, a center for connecting trade domestically and internationally through various events.
