Update: 10-05-2011 | 00:00:00

After local leading judo athletes of Lam Van Hoa, Nong Ngoc Hung Cuong, the provincial judo training board has developed promising judo athletes for the national and regional tournaments…

Judo coach Nguyen Cao Tri said that local judo team includes 16 members aged 15-17. Notably, the members are born and grown up in Binh Duong. Most of them are from Ben Cat and Phu Giao districts and are living in a dorm area at Go Dau stadium. Despite busy practice, the members have completed their academic program at local junior secondary and high schools.

With the practice of less than 3 years, the young judo athletes have reached remarkable achievements. They include Le Hoang Chuong who won gold medals for two consecutive years at the national young Judo Tournament and Pham Huu Minh Tuan who won a bronze medal at the 2011 national Judo Championship… More importantly, local Judo team’s 2 athletes including Le Thi Phuong Thuy and Tran Nhat Anh have been recently selected for the national judo team.

Coach Cao Tri forecasted that the future athletes are considered as a potential team for Binh Duong Judo event. From 2 to 4 upcoming years, Binh Duong judo athletes are likely to win medals at the national tournaments, especially the national Sport Congress 2014.

However, the members are in shortage of practice facilities and living conditions. It is hoped that local functional agencies offer supports in time to develop more the judo event.
