Provincial Red Cross Society gets high results in humanitarian activities

Early January 20, the 8th session of the 6th provincial Red Cross Society opened to review activities of the society in 2014. Attending the event was Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.

Provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels last year got involved in humanitarian activities, contributing to well realizing the local social welfare task. They also mobilized organizations, individuals to offer help to needy people in other localities and those in Cambodia, Laos. Estimatedly, the total value of social charity activities done by them last year was more than VND53.23bln. Around VND18.818bln was spent on public healthcare. They also collected 14,500 units of blood.

On this occasion, one individual was awarded the certificate of merit of the Prime Minister; 95 individuals awarded the mementoes of “For humanitarian cause”. Provincial People’s Committee and provincial Steering Board of Voluntary Blood Donation also presented the certificates of merit to 132 collectives and 156 individuals…

Addressing the conference, Mr.Liem praised achievements done by provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels last year. He also suggested provincial Steering Boards of Voluntary Blood Donation at all levels, sectors and people from all strata to have close coordination to successfully carry out orientations, tasks set out by provincial Red Cross Society and targets in voluntary blood donation of 2015.
