The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) organised the second Patriotic Emulation Congress and received the Gold Star Order, the State and Party’s highest distinction in Hanoi on June 13.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former State President Tran Duc Luong, Head of the Vietnam Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Education Commission, To Huy Rua, National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien, and 1,000 deputies representing 35,000 PVN staff.
In his speech, PM Nguyen Tan Dung praised the PVN for implementing patriotic emulations and fulfilling set targets, which have positively contributed to national liberation and unification for development and international integration.
Mr Dung called on the PVN to make effective use of capital and natural resources, protect the environment, upgrade technology, intensify the training of human resources, business and production, practise thrift, combat corruption and improve its staff’s cultural and spiritual lives.
On the occasion, Mr Dung presented the Gold Star Order to the PVN and conferred the title of Labour Hero on the Oil and Gas Technical Service Joint Stock Corporation (PTSC) and Mr Truong Van Tuyen, Head of the Management Board of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery and President of the Binh Son Oil Refining and Petrochemistry Company.
NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien presented the Independence Order, third class to four PVN collectives.
From 2006-2010, the PVN has implemented 739 initiatives for technical renovation which have benefited the oil and gas sector and the country by more than US$68 million.
Through practising thrift practice and anti-wastefulness, PVN has saved more than VND 2,570 billion.
PVN- Vietnam’s leading economic group earns a total annual revenue of more than US$110 billion and contributes 18-20 percent of the country’s GDP, 28-30 percent of the State’s total budget and 15 percent of national export turnover.
