Quake in Philippines claims at least 107 lives

At least 107 people was killed in a powerful earthquake that rocked central Philippines on October 15.

The 7.2-magnitude quake left hundreds of other injured and affected millions of people, according to the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

It also destroyed architectural work, including the country’s oldest church Cebu’s Basilica Minore del Santo Nino.

The quake struck in the morning near Balilihan town on Bohol island, at a depth of 20km, according to t he US Geological Survey. The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre did not issue a Pacific-wide tsunami warning.
