Over the past time, Binh Duong province attached special importance to sci-tech application into agricultural production. Sci-tech transfer activities also helped the local farmers raise their income, be proactive to develop many kinds of plants and animals, bringing them hi-economic efficiency.
Bound created
The whole province is now home to more than 925 hectares of farming land under sci-tech application with a focus on plants and animals having high value. Many tentative models on agricultural production were also implemented over the past time, creating a new image for the local agricultural sector based on hi-tech.

Ngo Van Dinh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Science and Technology said that sci-tech application has become a main element, helping increase productivity, reduce prices and enhance the quality of the local agricultural products. In fact, sci-tech application into agricultural production over the past time contributed to raising the value of the local agricultural products while guaranteeing requirements on food safety and hygiene to be able to compete with others in domestic and foreign markets. This also helped the local farmers change their thought of traditional production, step by step applying sci-tech advancements into agricultural production for better results.
Currently, production models under VietGap standards are being implemented across the province. In North Tan Uyen district alone, there are 36 hectares of orange and pomelo farms granted VietGap certification. Nguyen Van Dat, Chairman of Hieu Liem communal Farmers’Association in North Tan Uyen district said that the experiential implementation of citrus cultivation models under VietGap standards in the commune has upheld its efficiency. In the coming time, more farming households here will be encouraged to get involved in production under VietGap standards.
Increasing locals’income
Previously, many people said that it was very difficult to get rich from agricultural production. But, thanks to sci-tech application into production, farmers in the province have not only escaped poverty, but also got rich with the annual income of billions of dong. Nhi Van Xum in Bau Bang district’s Tru Van Tho commune is a typical example for this.
The farmer said that after visiting models on growing “luc truc” bamboo with scientific name “Bambusa oldhamii”, his family bravely grew 6 hectares of this kind of bamboo for sprout under VietGap standards. Currently, his family could secure the annual profit of VND900mln-VND1bln from the model.
Whilst, Le Hoang Chau, the owner of an orchard in Bau Bang district’s Tru Van Tho commune said that applying sci-tech advancement into production has brought his orchard hi-economic efficiency. Along with improvement of his automatic sprinkler system, the farmer has used pesticide logically, not only helping ensuring the quality of various fruits here, but also contributing to protecting the environment.
