Seeking Vietnam’s junior football talents

Update: 18-04-2012 | 00:00:00

Football players aged between 6-13 will be selected from primary and secondary schools across the country following guidelines set by Japan.

The General Director of Yamaha Motor Vietnam, Masaki Asano, said that as one of the favourite sports in Vietnam, football helps young people improve their health, strengthens community solidarity, and brings a great source of national pride.

Under the program, 50 primary schools in Hanoi will be provided with football training facilities. There will also be a training course in June with Japanese coach Masakuni Yamamoto, who is currently an advisor to Japan’s young footballer development program.

A number of events are scheduled within the framework of the program, including the U11 and U13 Yamaha Cup tournaments in Vinh Phuc and Ninh Thuan provinces. The winners of these tourneys will have the chance to compete at the ASEAN Cup in Malaysia and JUBILO Cup in Japan.

The young candidates who qualify for the program will also be sent to a training course at the Yamaha Football Academy in Japan from June 1 to July 10.
