Sixth Binh Duong Int’l women’s cycling race kicks off

A ceremony to open the sixth Binh Duong International Women’s Cycling Race-Biwase Cup 2016 was held yesterday morning at provincial Exhibition-Convention Center.

Attending the event were Tran Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Huynh Van Nhi, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee together with leaders of sectors in the province and sponsors.

At the opening ceremony, Mr.Hung highlighted the significance of the cycling race annually held by Binh Duong Water Supply-Drainage and Environment One-Member Co.Ltd., provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Binh Duong Television-Radio Station. He suggested the organizers and relevant units to try their best to successfully organize the race with high quality. On this occasion, the Vietnam Motor and Bicycle Sports Federation awarded the certificates of merit to outstanding collectives and individuals in organizing the race over the past 5 years. The organizers also received the certificate of merit of the Vietnam Olympic Committee.

After the opening ceremony, 70 cyclists from 6 foreign teams (including Japan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines) and 8 domestic ones participated in the 66-km first stage around Binh Duong new city. Nguyen Thi That from An Giang won the stage, followed by Thailand’s Supuksorn Nuntana.
