The tourism industry in the north central province of Thanh Hoa has experienced a huge growth in recent weeks as the locality welcomed 300,000 visitors in the early days of 2019, yielding a revenue of about VND235 billion.
According to a report from Thanh Hoa province department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, from February 2, 2019 till now, the locality received some 300,000 visitors to different tourist attractions in the region.
The number of tourists to Thanh Hoa during the Lunar New Year festival (Tet) and after Tet surged by nearly 37% of which, foreign arrivals reached 2,250 - up 15.4% against the same period last year.
Popular tourist attractions include Ho Dynasty Citadel, Lam Kinh Special National Relic Site, Song Son temple, Cua Dat and Phu Na pagoda, Pu Luong Natural Reverse, and Sam Son beach.
Local authorities has coordinated with tourist sites to ensure security, food safety and hygiene, fire prevention measures to avoid violations in the region.
According to statistics, from January 25 to February 25, Tho Xuan airport welcomed 191,000 travelers. In 2019, the airport aims to transport 4 million passengers and open additional local and international air routes.
