Mangosteen tree has been grown in Thanh Tuyen commune for more than 10 years. At that time, mangosteen gardens were developed in a spontaneous manner, farmers planted this tree mainly to eat fruit, not thought about doing business. It is these practical support policies that contributed to forming and promoting the role of mangosteen planting models in Thanh Tuyen commune.

At present, the commune has 6.6 ha of mangosteen trees of 9 households with VietGAP certification. This year, owners of mangosteen gardens in Thanh Tuyen are very cheerful, because their gardens had high yield, and were sold with good prices. The selling price at garden is 50,000 - 55,000 VND / kg, generating profit of tens of millions VND, even more than hundreds of millions VND for each household. Cao Que Anh, a farmer who grows mangosteen in Suoi Cat hamlet, said that mangosteen in the commune had a stable price, because quality of this fruit was good, and their market is quite wide. Besides, mangosteen can be preserved for a whole month without being damaged so farmers can transport their crop to Northern provinces for consumption.

A chance for mangosteen to go farther

In the last 3 years, at fruit competitions in the Southeast region, mangosteen of Thanh Tuyen commune has won high prizes. According to the experience of local gardeners, it is very difficult to get a high prize at this competition, because mangosteen must meet many strict standards such as: Mangosteen must be big, beautiful and the color must be bright; Mangosteen must be displayed on shelves, the inner must be white, sweet. Even after having high points from examiners, mangosteen must be taken for biochemical tests to measure pesticide level. Thus, mangosteen is not only delicious, beautiful, but also must be healthy for consumers in order to get high prizes. This indicated that Thanh Tuyen mangosteen has become a prestigious brand name.

After winning high prizes at many contests, mangosteen of Thanh Tuyen commune started to have a great attraction for the fruit-eating business. This is the basis for more stable and sustainable consumption sources of Thanh Tuyen mangosteen.

What makes households growing mangosteen in Dau Tieng excited is that the district has implemented the project "Collective brand name of Dau Tieng Mangosteen".
