Farmers growing pomelo in new rural Bach Dang commune (Tan Uyen town) are happy to welcome the second Bach Dang Grapefruit Festival 2019.

Introducing local specialties

Bach Dang pomelo is the common name for the famous pomelos of Bach Dang islet in Tan Uyen town. In 2011, Bach Dang pomelo was officially recognized as a collective mark owned by Farmers' Association of Bach Dang Commune. Visitors coming to Pomelo gardens on Bach Dang islet may not only enjoy delicious sweet pomelo fruit but also buy it as a gift for their family and friends.

According to the Organizing Committee, at the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to visit pomelo gardens and enjoy delicious dishes made from grapefruit, such as grapefruit rolls, grapefruit salad, grapefruit wine, pomelo tea, grapefruit jam. Besides, a cultural art program of “Don ca tai tu” will take place every day to serve tourists at restaurants within the festival. In addition, during the festival, visitors may sightsee tourist attractions in Bach Dang commune such as ancient house Do Cao Hua, Tan Trach temple...

According to Vo Thi Bao Xuyen, Chairwoman of People's Committee of Bach Dang commune, the festival preparation was completed. Sports Culture - Community Activity Center in Bach Dang commune – the venue of festival - was basically finished; Tan Trach temple has also been completed, ancient house Do Cao Thua is ready to welcome visitors; “Don ca tai tu” performances and other programs are being thoroughly rehearsed. Although many pomelo growers wanted to participate in grapefruit product display at the festival, according to criteria of the Organizing Committee, the exhibited pomelo are from VietGAP pomelo growers. The commune Women's Union also prepared for dishes made from pomelos served at the festival...

Eagerly waiting for the festival

According to Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc (Bach Dang commune), the 1^st Bach Dang Grapefruit Festival 2017 created the excitement for the people in Bach Dang when their pomelos were introduced widely. However, in 2017, due to the first time, the people had many confusing things. For the second time, the festival will be organized on a larger scale and is expected by many people. The festive joy will be mixed with the excitement when the flavor of their pomelos is introduced, especially when the 2019 spring is near.

“The organization of a festival on a larger scale to promote Bach Dang pomelo is awaited by many people, especially the traditional boat racing competition. On this occasion, Youth Union actively prepared for "homeland beauty" contest, folk games at festivals. Young people are practicing hard to make an impression in the eyes of visitors. After this festival, I hope that Bach Dang pomelos would develop its reputation more and more, combine well with eco-tourism to promote products made from pomelo fruit”, said Nguyen Trung Tin, Deputy Secretary of Bach Dang commune Youth Union.

These days, members of Women's Union of Bach Dang commune are busy preparing raw materials for special dishes made from pomelos, including pomelo tea, pomelo milk tea, pomelo salad, pomelo spring rolls... With 5 famous specialty pomelos of Bach Dang islet, each is suitable for processing a different dish. Visitors, who want to enjoy these specialties, just visit checkout counters and receive dishes. Women's Union of Bach Dang commune wishes to introduce and promote specialties of their hometown.
