Based on the review and specific statistics of people groups who need to be vaccinated, Binh Duong provincial medical branch expects that from now until the end of 2022, the whole province needs to supply more than 815,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
Namely, the demand for vaccines required by the target groups, including: more than 96,100 doses for children aged 5 - 11; more than 76,200 doses for children aged 12 to 17; 643,400 doses for adults over 18 years and older. However, the number of children who were vaccinated and the number of children who live in the province are currently inconsistent. For example, in the group of 12 - 17 years old, the number of teenagers who still need to be vaccinated is 121,605, but in fact the number of doses needed for injection of this group in the remaining localities is 77,938. Meanwhile, in the group of children from 5 to under 12 years old, there are 134,738 children who need the 1st and 2nd dose, but the actual number of remaining children in localities is 86,171.
According to the medical branch, using the Covid-19 basic dose for booster shot is a waste of money, because Covid-19 vaccine is packaged in many doses. In fact, the number of people who come for a booster shot is currently very low; sometimes one bottle of Covid-19 vaccine has many doses but only a few subjects received the injection. Moreover, expiry date of Covid-19 vaccine is short, only 6-9 months; some people are subjective and believed that they contracted Covid-19 so they do not need to inject the next shots, because that they have been protected by immunity system. This has delayed vaccination progress as well as mobilizing people for vaccination.
