Tien Minh enters Mexico Grand Prix quarterfinals

Top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh has moved into the quarter-finals of the Mexico Grand Prix after defeating Canadian player Martin Giuffre 2-0 (21-12, 21-14) in 27 minutes in the third round.
Earlier in the tournament, Minh won over the number four seed and world No 30 BoonsakPonsana of Thailand 21-19, 21-19 in the second round in 36 minutes.
In the quarter-final, World No 42 Minh will face Thailand rival Pannawit Thongnuam.
Meanwhile, in the women’s singles event, Vu Thi Trang lost to the number seven seed and world No 18 Sayaka Sato of Japan 2-0 (13-21, 8-21).
