To successfully perform the goals and tasks of the socio-economic development in 2022 and at the same time support businesses to recover and develop sustainably, Binh Duong Province continues to create a major change in the business environment, improve competitiveness in the new period.

To keep improving

Recently, Provincial Department of Planning and Investment organized a counseling program: "Improving the business and investment environment for enterprises through the study of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) in Binh Duong Province" for a student delegation of the National Economics University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thanh Huong, Deputy Director of Graduate Training Institute under National Economics University, said that with this visit, the delegation wished to exchange and learn more information about Binh Duong's development process in recent years; at the same time, raised questions about indicators in the PCI assessment 2021, such as Labor Training Index, Market Entry Index and Equal Competition Index.

According to Provincial Department of Planning and Investment, in 2021, despite being heavily affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, Binh Duong continued to be in the group of provinces and cities with "Good" operating quality (69.61 points), ranked 6th among 63 provinces and cities across the country, leading the Southeast region. In addition, according to a survey conducted by VCCI, infrastructure has been Binh Duong's strength for many years.

Trinh Hoang Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Planning and Investment, said the improvement of business and investment environment has been Binh Duong's goal. The improvement of business environment and PCI is always a key task of Binh Duong. Every year, after Public Administration Reform PAR Index, Satisfaction Index of Public Administrative Services SIPAS, and PCI are announced, Binh Duong looks back and assesses satisfied indicators and unsatisfied indicators to make specific remedial action programs. As a result, over the years, the province's PCI has maintained its high position.

A goal has no end

Looking back at 2021, in the extremely difficult context due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Binh Duong rose to prominence in terms of being proactive in disease prevention and control, resolutely keeping the area safe and stable, developing in the new normal, well executing the "dual goal". Business support was effectively implemented by the province. The province promulgated many policies, organized meetings, exchanged information, established working groups to promptly grasp, support and remove difficulties for businesses and investors.

In the first months of 2022, despite many difficulties, the province completed many important economic development targets. Over the first 8 months of the year, industrial production index was estimated to increase by 8.4%, total retail sales of goods and services increased by 18.7%, export turnover was estimated at more than 24 million USD, up 7.8% year-on-year, FDI attraction reached US$2.6 billion…

Trinh Hoang Tuan Anh added, thanks to breakthrough reforms, with the motto of taking businesses and people as the center of service, over the years, Binh Duong has always been one of the leading localities in the country in terms of FDI attraction. With maximum efforts, business investment environment in the province has been continuously improved. Binh Duong's goal is not only to raise the PCI ranking but also to make the province always an attractive destination for investors.

Accumulated up to now, the province has 58,290 domestic enterprises, with a total registered capital of over VND595 trillion. Over the first eight months of 2022, the total FDI capital into the province reached US$2.6 billion, including 48 new projects, 13 capital adjustment projects and 109 capital contribution projects. Accumulated to August 15, the province had 4,063 FDI projects from 65 countries and territories with a total registered capital of US$39.6 billion. Binh Duong is currently ranked second in the country in terms of FDI capital attraction, after Ho Chi Minh City.
