To timely carry out solutions to stimulate socio-economic development

Standing Committee of Provincial Party has just had a meeting to examine reports and solutions to fulfill targets of socio-economic development, transport infrastructure development, and handle flooded points in the province. Particularly, there were strategic solutions in last months of 2020 for socio-economic, transport infrastructure development of the province in 2021 and following years.

To timely solve difficulties

It is expected that by year-end the province would meet and exceed 21/31 key targets of the socio-economic development plan in 2020. Nguyen Thanh Truc, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, reported that currently enterprises were in need of raw materials, consumption markets shrank sharply, and they must reduce production scale by 30-60%. Some enterprises lack labor, namely foreign experts, managers, or business owners who have not been able to enter Vietnam.

Besides, living conditions of some workers and people are still difficult. Due to obstacles in public investment and site clearance compensation, some projects are still behind schedule, despite of government's efforts. According to investors, expected disbursement of public investment by the end of 2020 is estimated at 85% of the plan. However, the possibility that investors comply with this estimate is quite high, at present the province's disbursement reaches merely about 31% of the plan.

Facing the limitations and difficulties that need to be addressed, Provincial People's Committee has set tasks for the last 2 months of the year. In particular, the province will focus on improving the investment environment, monitoring the performance, promptly solving difficulties for enterprises and investors. To innovate methods of investment attraction in order to make the most of the current shift of capital and technology in the region and of the world. These are key tasks to create a good foundation for economic development in the year 2021.

Nguyen Thanh Truc said: “Provincial departments and branches continue to speed up and solve difficulties to stimulate disbursement of public investment capital. Especially strictly handle cases of intentionally delaying, avoiding liabilities, violating regulations. At the same time, to mobilize resources from all economic sectors to invest in infrastructure system in the area. To pay attention to construction of transport infrastructure, logistics, industrial zones, clusters, socio-cultural infrastructure to meet the increasing demand of local people”. Mr. Nguyen also added, the province focused on performing effectively social security, especially taking care of policy families, people with meritorious services, workers, and supporting those who were affected by the epidemic”.

To develop transport infrastructure

During many years, Binh Duong has paid attention to and invested in the development of transport infrastructure to assist socio-economic growth of the province in the direction of industrialization, modernization and urbanization.  Transport system of the province is invested in a comprehensive and uninterrupted manner to connect urban centers, industrial parks, material areas within the province to national highways and traffic hubs of provinces and cities in the Southern key economic zone.

However, with rapid socio-economic growth, industrial and urban development, mechanical population growth, increase in traffic volume, especially vehicles with large loading capacity, traffic infrastructure cannot catch up with the development speed and meet demands of the province. Some intersections, roads still have traffic congestion at peak hours such as Highway 13, My Phuoc - Tan Van, DT.743a, DT.743b, DT.743c...

Mr. Nguyen said: The 11th Provincial Party Congress set out four breakthrough action programs for the new tenure, including the program "Focusing on transport infrastructure development towards industrialization, urbanization and construction of Binh Duong smart city". Provincial People's Committee is directing specialized branches to complete the program to submit to Provincial Party Committee for assessment and approval. In which, the province focus on two groups of solutions, including solutions of administrative propagation, management, and solutions of investment planning in key traffic routes”.

At the meeting, delegates also discussed solutions to solve short-term and long-term difficulties. In particular, to attach importance to raise awareness within the entire Provincial Party, express the province's determination on safety, fighting congestion, and investing in modern transport infrastructure. In the coming time, Binh Duong will strive to address obstacles in land clearance; speed up the construction and expand some important traffic axes of the province. Specifically, the extension of DT743 from Ong Cu shrine to Song Than overpass, investment in overpass at An Phu junction and 550 intersection. Currently, these projects are under construction.
