Vietnam has 260 in ASIAD 16

A large number of Vietnamese competitors in the 16th ASIAD attended the opening of Asia 's biggest sports festival in Guangzhou, China on Nov. 12.

 Among them were badminton, billiards and snooker, chess, weightlifting, table tennis, and volleyball, football and shooting teams.

 Swimmers, judo and wushu martial artists, dancers and separk takraw players will arrive later in the city from training abroad.

Vietnam 's 260 competitors will contest 27 of 42 sports and have set themselves the target of at least four gold medals.

 Volleyball player Ngo Van Kieu carrying the national flag  led 150 Vietnamese for the ASIAD demonstration at the opening ceremony.

 Weigh lifter Hoang Anh Tuan is expected to open the medal count for Vietnam ; his 56kg category will start and finish on Nov. 13.

 The weight lifter won a silver medal – a first for Vietnam – at Beijing Olympics.
