Vietnam press exhibition opens in Hanoi

An exhibition showcasing nearly 150 publications of the Vietnamese press opened in Hanoi on June 16 by the East-West Culture and Language Centre, sachxua.net forum and the Hanoi Library.

 

The five-day exhibition themed “ Vietnam press (1865-1954) – Establishment and Development” is to mark the 145 th anniversary of the first Vietnamese language newspaper, the Gia Dinh, the 85 th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press and the millennium anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

 

On display are copies of the first Vietnamese language newspaper and of the first publications of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press along with various journalism-related objects, including cameras and pres cards used by famous journalists like Vu Trong Phung and Nguyen Huy Tuong, providing visitors with an overview of the country’s press during the 1865-1954 period.

 

The exhibition also displays the original copy of Uncle Ho’s letter written to the southern people in 1946 which was published in the Cuu Quoc Newspaper.

 

During the exhibition, a seminar was held to evaluate the role of journalism in the country’s history./.
