Vietnam, Venezuela sign cooperation projects

Several Vietnamese and Venezuelan agencies and businesses signed a number of cooperation agreements, contracts and memoranda of understanding at the second session of the Vietnamese-Venezuelan Inter-governmental Committee that concluded in Caracas , Venezuela , on April 20.

 Under the agreements, Vietnam will supply solar power generating stations, solar powered kettles, public lighting systems, technical assistance and equipment for exploration of the Junin 2 oil field by the joint venture PetroMacareo.

 The newly signed contracts also include the expansion of a cultural exchange programme for the period 2012-2015, which will focus on the theatre, cinema and publishing.

 

The two day meeting was co-chaired by Vietnam ’s Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and the Venezuelan Vice President and Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Rafael Ramirez.

 Hai and Ramirez signed the meeting’s minutes, agreeing to make more effort to increase bilateral cooperation in other areas with potential.

 The minutes included cooperation in trade, oil and gas, electricity, agriculture, infrastructure, shipbuilding, information and communications technology, culture, and education and training.

 Both parties agreed to promote joint research in areas they are strong in, namely telecommunications, truck and motorcycle assembly, the construction steel mills, small scale hydro power projects and biogas projects for rural areas in Venezuela.

 On addressing the events’ closing ceremony, Vice President Ramirez said the second session has produced good outcomes results for Vietnam and Venezuela ’s strategic relationship and solidarity.

 He suggested that both countries up cooperation in economics, trade, industry and science-technology on a par with their special relationship.

 Vietnam ’s Deputy PM stressed on the need for closer cooperation between different regions around the world to overcome current challenges and promote solidarity.

 Vietnam and Venezuela need to strengthen cooperation in power, manufacturing and construction industries, agro-forestry and fisheries, science-technology, culture and education, he added.
