Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung reiterated Vietnam’s guiding diplomatic rationale after welcoming Algerian Minister of Industry Development and Investment Promotion Amara Benyounes at a January 9 reception in Hanoi.
PM Dung highlighted the positive outcomes arising from the 10th meeting of the Vietnam-Algeria Inter-Government Committee, noting the two countries’ complementary potential and advantages should lead to stronger cooperation and development.
He suggested promoting reciprocal delegation exchanges, finalising specific cooperation programmes, and boosting investment, energy, and labour cooperation to lift two-way trade beyond its current US$130 million level.
The Government leader asked both nations to stand side by side at international and regional forums and encourage the Vietnam-Algeria Inter-Government Committee’s attempts to enhance multifaceted cooperation.
The Algerian Minister affirmed his country’s desire to reflect its political and diplomatic friendship with Vietnam in practical cooperation and economic and trade ties.
Algeria can offer the best possible conditions for Vietnamese enterprises seeking investment and cooperation opportunities, Benyounes said.
He expressed Algeria’s eagerness to learn from Vietnam’s socio-economic development experience while stressing the need to boost people-to-people exchange and deepen mutual understanding.
