Vietnam brought home three golds, five silvers and two bronzes from the Asian Youth Para Games 2017, which took place in Dubai from December 7 to 14.
Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung triumphed in the women’s U18 400m T13 event, with a time of 1min 16.56sec. Earlier, Nhung secured a bronze in the 100m class.
Dong Thi Hai Yen won a gold in the women’s U18 1,500m T12 event. She then came second in the 100m and third in the 400m categories.
Nguyen Xuan Tuan Anh championed in the men’s U18 400m T12 pool. He also finished second in the 1,500m pool.
Nguyen Thi Trang claimed a hat trick of silvers in the women’s U20 100m, 200m and 400m T11.
With three golds, Vietnam now stands at the No. 16 position.
Japan is in the top place, with 43 titles. Iran and China are second and third, respectively.
The Games lured more than 800 athletes aged from 14 to 18 from 42 contingents. They took part in 10 sports, with athletics and swimming seeing the highest number of competitors.
The Vietnamese delegation sent to the event 23 athletes, who competed in four sports: track and field, swimming, table tennis and badminton.
