White shirts volunteer for island love

"White shirt volunteers – For border, island love” is the program launched by Thuan An town Youth Union in collaboration with municipal Education – Training Bureau with the aim to collect white shirts, white notebooks, stationeries, and national flags from pupils to send to poor pupils, army units, people at border areas and islands.

Mr. Ngoc Tien Dat, Chairman of Thuan An town’s Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization, said, in response to the program “Binh Duong youth turning towards national islands” and to implement effectively the campaign “For border, island love”, the organization has successfully implemented these programs to promote responsibility and solidarity between members, pupils in the town and poor pupils in islands. In addition, programs stimulated patriotism from local youngsters.

Pupils of Lai Thieu Primary School gave national flags Young Pioneer Organization.

Implementing these campaigns, pupils donated notebooks, textbooks, stationaries, and national flags. Each school gave flags and gifts on Monday’s flag salute.

Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Trang, Captain of Lai Thieu Primary School’s Young Pioneer Organization, said: “My friends at border areas, remote islands are so needy and disadvantaged. Thus, through this program, I want to send them our sentiment. I hope that these gifts will help ease their difficulties”.

During 1 month, the program has received thousands of white notebooks, stationaries, hundreds of national flag from 28 Young Pioneer Organizations and 6 Youth Unions at municipal schools. Especially, the most precious thing is not the value of gifts but sentiments of sender to remote pupils. Indeed, before sending, gifts were carefully packed with written letters, greetings to soldiers protecting the country and poor pupils in remote islands.

Pupil Le Huynh Phuong Nghi of class 5B of Tran Quoc Toan Primary School wrote: “I know your difficulties in remote islands. How do you do, my friend? Although I cannot come to visit you, I have some gifts for you. I hope you will like it. And I wish you well, our soldiers! Wish all of you, my friends, would earn lot of 10-point flowers!”

Warm wishes and meaningful gifts would definitely please receivers in border areas, remote islands.
