10 years of new rural construction in Phu Giao District

 The new rural construction (NRC) program in Phu Giao district has contributed to promoting the rural socio-economic development, security and stability, improvement of income, material and spiritual life of people.

 Many good lessons

The path to NRC standards of Phu Giao District recognizes the determination and strength of the Party, governments and people of the whole district. Over nearly 10 years of implementing the National Target Program on NRC development, the whole district has now 10/10 communes meeting NRC standards. In recognized communes meeting the standards, socio-economic sectors have developed, people's material and spiritual life has been improved, the average income per capita of 10/10 communes by the end of 2019 was nearly VND60 million/person/year.

Many roads were expanded to connect hamlets and communes together, with flowers planted along roadsides. Over the past 10 years, the district achieved remarkable results. In particular, people understand the value of NRC program, which contributes to the construction of their hometown, especially convert inefficient crop areas into more productive ones, enhances application of science and technology into agriculture, cooperation, joint venture in production and consumption of products...

Nguyen Hong Quyet, Director of Kim Long High-tech Agriculture Cooperative (An Binh commune, Phu Giao district), said that thanks to the NRC, people benefited greatly from infrastructure investment, rural transport improvement, training of science and technology, preferential loan programs for farmers... Because of the application of advanced science and technology in melon cultivation, products of his cooperative achieved high quality and was recognized to meet VietGAP standards, had stable consumption on the nationwide market. Every year, the cooperative produces and supplies over 200 tons of melon to the market, with a turnover of VND 9-10 billion/year, creates regular jobs for more than 60 employees and an average income of VND 6 to 6.5 million/person/month.

With a low starting point, people's lives used to have many difficulties. But the face of NRC communes in Phu Giao district has changed every day, material and spiritual life of the people is improving. According to People's Committee of An Binh commune, thanks to the NRC, its face has many changes. The local economy had a pronounced transformation, agricultural production gradually shifted to the modern direction, applied advanced technologies. There were many high-tech models bringing good economic benefits. The infrastructure is markedly elevated, in particular roads, electricity, medical stations, schools have met the needs of people.

To be tied to agricultural restructure

According to People's Committee of Phu Giao District, the 9th district Party Congress defined the agricultural and rural economic development process tied to the NRC program was the priority and put into Party resolutions and an action program "Agricultural development and new rural construction associated with the development of ecological tourism phase 2016-2020". Accordingly, the district leaders directed branches and localities to set up implementation plans, encourage high-tech agriculture, implement policies supporting knowledge, techniques, loans. This formed efficient economic models and facilitated the spread among people.

The district agriculture continued to develop properly, turned towards goods production according to market demands, improved its economic efficiency and income for farmers. The district supported, encouraged development of high-tech agricultural production, sustainable production tied to environmental protection. The value of agro-forestry production in 2019 reached more than VND4,200 billion, the average annual growth rate above 5.5%.

To Van Dat, deputy chairman of Phu Giao District People's committee, said that in the future, the district would further the NRC, civilization, advance towards model NRC communes, thereby improving the socio-economic infrastructure to be increasingly modern, comprehensive, carry out economic restructure and reasonable production organization. Besides, the district will carry out NRC combined with economic restructure, social security guarantees; implement the scheme of agricultural sector restructuring, high-tech agricultural production in the area; build and expand models of key agricultural products in the area, develop agricultural production to gain good yield, quality, food safety, improving people's incomes and lives...
