2016 provincial summer youth volunteer campaign launched

Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee yesterday held a ceremony to launch the 2016 provincial summer youth volunteer campaign at Tan Binh primary school in North Tan Uyen district’s Tan Binh commune. Attending the event were Nguyen Thanh Liem, Head of provincial Committee for Public Relations together with more than 500 local Youth Union members, pupils-students and soldiers.

With the theme of “Binh Duong’s youth joining hands to build new-style rural and civilized urban areas”, the 2016 provincial summer youth volunteer campaign will focus on major programs, namely “Giving strength in exam season”, “Green summer”, “Green operation”, “Red phoenix-flower”, “Pink vacation” and “International volunteer”. Particularly, the “Giving strength in exam season” program will give support for pupils in the 2016 university entrance exam season; the “Green operation” campaign with activities upgrading rural roads; the “Red phoenix-flower” campaign with “Paying debt of gratitude”, “When drinking water, remember its source” and social welfare activities…

At the ceremony, under the 2^nd “Alliance of three shirt colors” program 2016, the Youth Unions of provincial Police Agency and Anti-fire Police Agency presented 16 gifts worth VND500,000 each to needy policy beneficiary families. The Youth Union of the Army Corps No.4 gave 10 gifts worth VND300,000 each for the families of recruits and provided free medical check-up, medicine for 250 households. The Youth Union of provincial Military Command also donated 2 gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers.

On this occasion, provincial Youth Union handed over a house of compassion to a needy youth; inaugurated a “lighting up rural road” youth work made by the Youth Unions of TDM city and North Tan Uyen district with a total expense of VND20mln. Huynh Van Tung, Chairman of Tan Binh communal People’s Committee said: “The ceremony is of significance for a commune with new-style rural construction like Tan Binh.  “Lighting up rural road” works, gifts for needy and policy beneficiary families are practical deeds for the sake of the community, contributing to taking care of people’s lives”.

Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, Secretary of provincial Youth Union said: “The Steering Board of the campaign will focus activities on communes with new-style construction, ones in the remote and needy region of the province and areas crowded with young workers while setting up youth volunteer squads in Phu Quy island district in the central province of Binh Thuan, Laos and Cambodia. All activities of this year’s campaign will further uphold the volunteer spirit of Binh Duong’s youth”.

In order to well realize the theme of this year’s campaign, the Steering Board has set some basic targets. Particularly, 100% of district-level Youth Unions will join hands with armed forces to realize volunteer activities, including upgrading rural roads. 100% of Youth Unions in communes with new-style rural construction will take part in making youth works on new-style rural construction. Each Youth Union at district, town and city levels will set up at least one volunteer youth squad on traffic safety and build at least one civilized street. 100% of Youth Unions at commune, ward and township levels will establish youth volunteer squads; engage in civilized urban activities…
