The opening ceremony of the fourth provincial Sports Festival was grandly held at Binh Duong New City-based Sporting Event Hall on the evening of March 28.

It was attended by Le Thanh Cung, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; members of provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of provincial People’s Council, Fatherland Front Committee; former leaders of the province over periods together with nearly 3,000 representatives of the sports and physical training movements in localities, armed units, schools, enterprises and mass organizations across the province.

Training and leaders of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourisms of five provinces in the southeastern region, comprising of Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Binh Thuan, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria-Vung Tau were also present at the opening ceremony.

Addressing the event, Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Steering Board of the festival emphasized: “The fourth provincial Sports Festival is a chance for the province to comprehensively assess the local sports and physical training movements, thereby sorting out outstanding athletes for the province’s sports teams to attend tournaments at home and abroad, especially the 2014 National Sports Festivals, which is held in the northern province of Nam Dinh in November ahead”. He also wished participating athletes good health for the best performance at the festival while wishing the festival to be successful…

At the opening ceremony, participants had a chance to enjoy an impressive performance by 120 soldiers from the Engineer Brigade 550, 120 athletes from provincial Taichi Association, 180 martial artists together with 45 aerobic athletes from provincial Cultural House for Children with the theme of “Binh Duong is flexible for Integration-Development”.
