We accompanied by officials of Thuong Tan Commune in North Tan Uyen District visited the charity house of Mrs. Tran Thi Be at Group 7, Hamlet 2 locally.

Mrs. Tran Thi Be, born in 1924, had 2 children fallen as martyrs during the resistance war against the US. Meeting her, we were so delighted to know that she was very healthy at her 90s.

Wartime, she was a solid supporter, seeing off her children to the nation protection career. At home, she worked on the farm to supply foods to the soldiers. The days impressed deeply in her mind, taking care of the soldiers.in the back line.

Carrying her forth child, she still worked as a laision agent joining direct protest against the enemy. Once she was arrested and imprisoned in Saigon. Her husband also had 6 years of revolutionary activities in Vinh Long. In 1974, he was captured and imprisoned by the enemy till nation liberation.

Of 7 children, she lost the first and second children. Her oldest child was Nguyen Thi Thu Dan who was a brave girl taking parting revolution in her 13s. Recalling the time of her daughter, she recalled the dates of secret operations showing ways for soldiers through the night to hide them in basement. In 1971, she was killed in a wood in Thien Tan; however, Be refused the enemy’s proposal of her corpse recovery. Later on in peacetime, the remain of Nguyen Thi Thu Dan was recovered and taken to burial place of Vinh Cuu, Dong Nai Province.

The next child of her was Nguyen Van Dinh, joining revolutionary activities in his 18s. In 1969, he was killed in Thien Tan and his remains were lost up to now.

Her two fallen children were honored with victorious medals and the next generations have given her a life of sentiments and love.

Tran Thi Be was entitled as Vietnamese heroic mother for her sacrifices and lost of her children in liberating the nation. The entitlement was to thank a mother of grief and suffering from loss.
