Born in 1955, Hoang Tan Dao is one of Vovinam athletes under the first generation of Binh Duong province. At the age of 15, Dao took part in the first classes of Vovinam taught by martial arts instructor Ngo Kim Tuyen.

 

After many years of teaching Vovinam martial art, Dao estimates to teach for nearly 1,000 students across the province. At present, his life is comfortable with an orchard at An Son commune, Thuan An town and an electric household repair shop at Phu Van market. Enjoying a stable economic life, he tries his best to participate well in local movements and ensure the martial art practice.

 

Thanks to confidence and love of Phu Tho ward leaders, he is invited to take part in quarter 4 security force. In addition, he urges people to practice the martial art in service for security work. Therefore, local order and security are maintained constantly.

 

Despite old age, Dao keeps maintaining and developing his skills of martial art. Vovinam martial art now becomes an official sport at local and international competitions. “I hope that young generation will be deeply attached to the martial art to equip themselves with good health and overcome difficulties in life, as the martial art’s teaching purpose”, Dao said.
