At present, communes of North Tan Uyen district meet new rural construction (NRC) standards, aiming at an enhanced NRC, creating a solid foundation for the local socio-economic development and improving the quality of people lives. The district is striving to become a NRC district soon.

To create a foundation for local development
Dat Cuoc has been the first commune of North Tan Uyen district recognized to reach advanced NRC standards. In 2018, average income of the people in the commune reached 60.2 million VND. Pham Ngoc Uy, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said this was because the good transformation of the economy from agriculture to trade - service.
Previously, income of people in Dat Cuoc commune was mainly from agricultural production, the number of households doing trade - services was very small. Thanks to NRC, local technical infrastructure system, including transport infrastructure, water supply and drainage, and electricity are continuous and stable. Besides, the collection and treatment of waste and garbage are well implemented by the commune; enterprises in the area operate effectively, workers from many parts of the country have come here to work and start a business. This opened up an opportunity for local people to transform from pure agricultural production to trade - service, lodging house owners, retail sale with stable revenue. Many households in the commune had good conditions, grasped opportunities and opened production and service enterprises, provided goods and services to investors...
NRC commune Tan Binh - where there are 2 dynamic industrial parks located on a favorable route, thus the commune's economy - society is on a strong development. Besides many investors and businesses, models of cooperative economy in this area have also developed efficiently. Many cooperatives in the commune applied modern technologies into production, thereby increasing competitiveness of their products on the domestic market and for export.
Nguyen Hong Khanh, Vice Chairman of Tan Binh Commune People's Committee, affirmed that building a new rural area had created a new face for this locality, gradually narrowed the gap between rural and urban areas. "Urban living conditions - Rural prices" are advantages to attract investors, creating a solid foundation for local socio-economic growth and improving people's lives.
To proactively overcome challenges
In order to exploit the advantages in building new rural areas, North Tan Uyen district has promoted 2 strengths including developing citrus orchards. As a result, the district has so far developed more than 2,000 hectares gathering about 120 synthetic farms of medium to large scale, high-tech applications, including 600 hectares of VietGAP standards and 17 hectares of Organic farm standards. At present, the productivity and price of agricultural products (oranges, pomelos) in the district is 3 times higher than the same products from traditional southern markets. This value was formed from the geographical advantage of North Tan Uyen land, which is very suitable for citrus fruits consolidated by silt, cool water from Dong Nai and Be rivers...
Another advantage of the district is the capacity to attract investments, inviting foreign corporations and enterprises owning potentials, technologies, experiences and market relations. They came to the district to launch projects, enhance cooperation and development in many fields, contributing to the development of the local socio-economy, trade – service, and urban development.
Mr. Uy said, the most disturbing issue to Dat Cuoc commune’s leaders as well as households about NRC was cultural issues. In fact, when the local economy developed, people's cultural awareness also increased, movements of environmental protection received good responses by people. However, the locality must also regularly propagate and raise people's awareness, be wary of toxic culture, because that is the cause of many evils, accidents, crimes. The title of NRC built up by local government and people will disappear, if one of these above problems happens.
Talking about make good use of internal strengths for NRC associated with socio-economic development in a sustainable way, Nguyen Van Thuan, Head of Economic Chamber - Permanent Deputy Head of the district Steering Committee for NRC, said thanks to the direction from the beginning to develop citrus orchards and high-tech agricultural application according to VietGAP standards, combined with the certification of collective trademark “North Tan Uyen orange and pomelo” by Ministry of Science and Technology, citrus products in the district have stood firm and competed well in the domestic market.
However, Mr. Thuan also acknowledged, how to further develop these products with higher values was a difficult issue to local leadership, because it depended on international agreements. For example, if our products want to get into Japanese market, enterprises or cooperatives in North Tan Uyen, or even more, it will be difficult for the industry and trade sector of Binh Duong province to implement, because it must be based on market opening agreements between countries. North Tan Uyen district has created high-quality and branded products, been fovored by domestic customers. But if the district wants to export their products with a large and stable quantity, it is necessary to pay attention, support from the Central Government to integrate into the international market.
