Nguyen Trai quarter in Lai Thieu ward, Thuan An town has over the past years offered numerous excellent athletes for Thuan An town. These outstanding athletes have gained high achievements at the 4th Thuan An town Sport and Gymnastics Congress.   Nguyen Trai quarter people join in a taichi club.

Since launching the 2009 movement of “People Taking Part in Physical Exercise Following the Great Example of Uncle Ho”, Nguyen Trai quarter has achieved a strong development, luring numerous participants. The number of participants has accounted for 70% of local population and the number of families joining in physical exercises has reached 80% of the total local population.

At present, the quarter has established many various clubs such as 3 football clubs, 1 body-building club, 1 aerobic club, 2 taichi clubs, 1 chess club, 1 volleyball club, 2 billiard clubs and so on.

The movement has emerged many highlighted individuals, reaching high achievements. They include Bui Xuan Hao winning a silver medal for springboard at the national sport and gymnastics congress 2009 and 2 gold medals for swimming at the provincial Phu Dong Sport Festival.

Nguyen Van Nhan, head of Nguyen Trai quarter said “The above results are thanks to enthusiastic participation of local residents. In addition, available material facilities such as Thuan an town culture center and 2 mini football grounds have contributed to offer advantages for the quarter’s sport development”.

In order to spur and develop the sport movement, the quarter annually holds many tournaments for local residents to select and foster young talents as well as create healthy and useful playgrounds for local residents, according to Nhan.
