An example of the "3 on-site" method at enterprise

 “It is difficult, but must strictly implement, this is a long-term fight against the pandemic. Enterprises must take good care of employees, and workers consider companies as their roof. If we don't persevere and unite into one, the "wall" against Covid-19 will be drilled at any time", said Phan Thi Phuong Linh, Human Resources Director of Earth Corporation Vietnam Company (South Tan Uyen Industrial Park).

To take care of and protect workers

As the first organization that implement "3 on-site" method in production plan, after nearly 2 months, Earth Corporation Vietnam Company is operating well, preventing diseases from entering their factories, export orders still work smoothly. Sharing her experience in implementing the above method, Linh said: "The company set up a Steering Committee for disease prevention control from the very beginning, members of the Steering Committee constantly update the disease situation. Accordingly, we regularly meet to discuss and set up plans according to developments of the pandemic to best deal with it. Even if it works well, never be subjective."

She said that as starting to implement the "3-on-site" production plan at their factory, the company met with workers to give them options. “It may be 3 weeks or more, when the disease is controlled, we will be able to return home. Another option was that anyone who wished to return home must notify managers. Before entering the company to be in the on-site plan, all workers were tested for Covid-19 and entered with only one suit each person. The company determined that pathogens are hiding somewhere in lodging houses, residential areas, so it would be very dangerous for workers to bring their belongings inside. When going inside, workers received full new personal items from the company.

If someone wants to go home, the company will invite a doctor for a test, if he/she has negative test result, he/she must be isolated at home according to instructions of the local government. Six weeks after applying this method, our company had nearly 20 workers that wanted to return home because of urgent family affairs, all of them complied with the procedures of Ministry of Health and local government. Currently, the company has more than 160 employees working at the factory, and the productivity is very high," Linh said.

In order for the wall against Covid-19 to not be drilled, the company always strictly monitors all activities. Regarding food supply for employees, the company opens its own way, delivery men must have negative test results in the last 3 days to enter the company. Food recipients must wear protective clothing, gloves and immediately dispose of these in a trash can labelled “dangerous”  after receiving the food. Food after receiving must be washed with a lot of water, all food must be boiled and cooked before being delivered to workers... At the main gate for goods entering and exiting the company, drivers delivering the goods must have a valid test certificate. When a vehicle arrives at the gate, the entire vehicle is immediately disinfected before entering, and it must be disinfected one more time as leaving. Goods received and stored must be completely disinfected.

In addition, the company set up a fence in front of the main gate, has a surveillance system and security team, and stipulates that 5.5 million / worker / 3 weeks will be deducted from allowance of anyone, who steps through the fence. For nearly two months, the company has been contacting the local health center every week to take samples for testing for about 30% of alternate employees who are staying on site. Particularly, 100% security force are tested every week.

Healthy living space, long-term fight

Regarding taking care of employees, Phan Thi Thuy Linh, said: “The company provides workers with four main meals per day, allows workers to register their favorite dishes. Nutritious food, fresh vegetables, fish, meat, eggs, many kinds of beverages, coffee, milk, tea, yogurt are also provided by the company so that workers can use it at any time. Every 3 weeks, the company provides an allowance of 5.5 million VND/person. On Saturdays and Sundays, the kitchen prepares delicious dishes for workers, under the supervision of Covid safety teams”.

Linh said that in order for employees to not be stressed, the company has healthy activities to create a fun and entertaining living space after work. For example, the company organizes sport activities, such as badminton, shuttlecock, barbell, push-ups etc.; sets up competition groups, then the atmosphere will be fun and active. In the evening, workers can watch movies, sing in groups at fixed hours.

Many workers of Earth Corporation Vietnam Company (South Tan Uyen Industrial Park) showed a high determination to combat the pandemic. Bui Thi Le (from Thai Binh province), a worker of logistics department, left her 9-month-old baby at home with her husband, and stays at the company to work, said quite emotionally: "I call my baby every night. Although he is well taken care of by his father, he misses his mother very much. Over 13 years working at this company having good memories, I have been well taken care of in all aspects by the company, and considered the company as my second home. When the company needs me during the pandemic, I want to be a pioneer. I put my faith upon the company. We promised that we would fight with our best to protect the company until the end of this difficult time. And then, I will quickly return home to hold my baby in my arms."
