Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has recently signed a decision to issue the strategy for developing Vietnam's semiconductor industry up to 2030, with a vision towards 2050. The strategy is divided into three phases, with specific goals. In the first phase of 2024-2030, the Government sets ambitious targets such as establishing at least 100 design enterprises, one small-scale semiconductor chip manufacturing plant, 10 semiconductor packaging and testing plants. Additionally, the electronics industry in Vietnam is expected to achieve over $225 billion in annual revenue, with a value-added rate of 10%-15%.

According to experts, Binh Duong has significant potential and opportunities to develop the semiconductor industry, due to its favorable and competitive investment environment, which strongly attracts foreign investors. Moreover, Binh Duong demonstrates strong political determination to develop science, technology and innovation in general and semiconductor industry in particular. In reality, Binh Duong has many advantages that could position it as a key link in the global semiconductor supply chain, thanks to its favorable geographical location and quality workforce… However, the semiconductor industry is a high-tech field that requires significant investment while most auxiliary industry businesses in the province are small and medium-sized ones. Therefore, time is needed to research and find suitable development solutions for the semiconductor sector. Additionally, a boost from foreign-invested companies in the industry is essential for the strong growth of the semiconductor industry.

In support of Binh Duong's industrial development, Becamex IDC has invested in an advanced manufacturing center, the Industrial Innovation 4.0 Center, the EIU-Sembcorp Sustainable Solutions Center, an open manufacturing laboratory and a STEM center. Additionally, Becamex IDC has collaborated with major electronics component manufacturers, namely Cicor and Foster to train human resources and conduct research for development…

Binh Duong has effectively taken of advantages to cooperate in developing technologies, building up an ecosystem and enhancing its competitiveness in the international market. Furthermore, the province has continued strengthening cooperation with partners at home and abroad, promoting infrastructure development, becoming an attractive destination for international investors in the semiconductor field.
