Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Provincial Armed Forces’ traditional day

Morning Nov 25^th, Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Military Command held a solemn ceremony of the 70^th anniversary of Provincial Armed Forces’ traditional day (Nov 25^th 1945 - Nov 25^th 2015) and receiving first-class Fatherland Defense Medal.

Attendants of the ceremony were Nguyen Minh Triet, former Politburo member, former President; Tran Van Nam, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Party Secretary of provincial Military Command, Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Vietnam heroic mothers; heroes of People's Armed Forces; former provincial leadership; former leaders of provincial Military Command and branches.

At the ceremony, Tran Van Nam gave a speech to review 70 years of provincial armed forces. 70 years ago, at An Son commune, Lai Thieu district (now is Thuan An town), implementing the decision of Military Conference, on Nov 25^th 1945, Battalion 1 of Thu Dau Mot Liberation Army, which was the first revolutionary force in southeastern and developed by the Party after the August Revolution in 1945, was officially established. Battalion 1 was formed to perform local duties, support the militia, guerrilla to constitute the synergy fighting against the enemy. Since then, Nov 25^th 1945 become the traditional day of provincial armed forces.

During 70 years, provincial armed forces have continuously grown and matured in all aspects. Their strength was proved through the successful completion of defense – security, national defense missions in every phase, especially in the current period.

Mr. Nam emphasized, in the current situation, in addition to fundamental advantages and new opportunities, we were encountering difficulties and challenges. Our tasks were very heavy and required each officer to master military standpoint, policies of the Party while developing the force. Officers must put more effort into learning, implementing defense – security missions in the new era; the 8^th Central Resolution of the 9^th tenure on "Strategies for national defense in the new situation"; Action Programme of Provincial Party on defense – security missions in order to help to accelerate socio-economic development, handle social justice, improve people’s life, strengthen political, military, economic potentialities, enhance industrialization and modernization…

On this occasion, provincial Military Command honorably received a first-class Fatherland Defense Medal from the President for outstanding achievements in training, combating, building the People's Army, strengthening the defense in the 2010-2014; congratulation letter from the Minister of Defense.
