Creating conditions for workers to enjoy culture

On October 28, a delegation of the Central Steering Committee of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", led by Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor had  a working session with provincial Steering Committee for the movement. Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee and members of provincial Steering Committee for the movement received the delegation.

Mobilizing whole political system for implementation

Reporting to the delegation, Le Van Thai, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that over the past time, the province’s whole political system participated in implementing the movement of “All people unite to build a cultural life"; Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front and mass organizations focused on regularly leading and directing the movement. Since then, the movement has been responded by people and has obtained good results, positively contributing to the local socio-economic development. With many practical solutions in leadership and implementation, the movement has gradually reached in-depth development with quality raised and has been developed in grassroots areas.

In order to uphold the effectiveness of the movement, provincial steering committees at all levels have promoted propaganda and mobilization of cultural quarters and hamlets, cultural lodging facilities, new-style rural communes, wards and towns meeting civilized urban standards to fully implement standards and criteria for recognition of cultural titles, perform wedding parties, funerals and conventions in accordance with regulations. Especially, localities have propagandized about the Covid-19 prevention and control; propagandized and mobilized people to practice a civilized lifestyle in organizing wedding parties and funerals

Therefore, over the past time, the implementation of the movement's contents in the province had many changes and brought positive effects. The content of the movement to build cultural families, residential areas, civilized cities was focused on by steering committees at all levels to promote propaganda and mobilization for implementation and brought into play the strength of the community in each specific task.

Paying attention to cultural life for workers

Before having a meeting with provincial Steering Committee for the movement, the delegation worked with Thu Dau Mot city’s Steering Committee for the movement, checked the implementation of the movement in Phu Tan ward and visited a lodging facility in the area. Through the working session, Ngo Duy Hieu highly appreciated the results achieved by Thu Dau Mot city, Phu Tan ward in implementing the movement. He suggested localities, departments and mass organizations to continue effectively implementing the contents of the movement; mobilize departments, organizations and mass organizations to participate in creating cultural values ​​in order to contribute to improving the spiritual life of the people; pay more attention to the lives of workers; organize recreational activities, build cultural institutions... to meet people’s needs for cultural enjoyment, including workers.

One of the issues that the delegation had great concern in implementing the movement was the cultural life of workers. According to representative of provincial Labor Union, the province now has more than 1.2 million employees, more than 85% of whom are immigrants and there are about 60% of workers are living at lodging facilities… Binh Duong has about 500 enterprises arranging areas for employees to participate in physical training and sports activities; there are about 350 enterprises arranging areas equipped with machines to organize cultural and artistic activities; about 600 enterprises using the combined material facility space to organize cultural and sports activities, etc. Every year, there are about 1,700 sports and cultural activities organized by trade unions at all levels in collaboration with units, enterprises and mass organizations. However, the figure is still very small in comparison with the number of enterprises existing in the province.

Representatives of provincial departments and agencies also reported to clarify some related contents, such as: the situation of housing construction for low-income people; the work of ensuring security and order at lodging facilities, in enterprises; the organization of activities and playgrounds of Vietnamese culture and sports; the construction of a learning-based society, creating conditions for the offspring of workers to learn and play...

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Hieu highly appreciated Binh Duong's achievements in implementing the movement of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life". In 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic had a great impact on people's lives, but Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front and mass organizations in the province effectively implemented the movement with commendable results. He emphasized that along with investment in economic development, creating a new urban look, Binh Duong must always pay attention to the cultural life of people, including workers.

Provincial Steering Committee should further promote the movement, advise on new programs and projects with a vision with the view that culture is a measurement of economic development; pay more attention to migrant workers, especially ensure security and order, create opportunities and a good learning environment for workers' children… “I am very satisfied with results done by Binh Duong over the past time. I hope Binh Duong continues maintaining stability and developing more strongly in the coming time. During the development process, there is cultural development", said Mr. Hieu.
