He made the statement at an event organised late in October by the municipal Department of Tourism on realising plans to restore Da Nang tourism in the normal.

Accordingly, the city focuses on recovering tourism activities in the new situation under the motto "Proactive - adaptive - flexible to effectively restore tourism and ensure the safety of tourists, tourism workers and the community”.

For businesses, they must ensure the conditions of safe adaptation, flexibility, effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic. They are required to welcome domestic tourists in two phases, restart tourism activities and services in the city from October, and provide services for inter-regional tourists from November.

The central city will welcome international tourists in line with the plan and guidance issued by the Government, relevant ministries and agencies.

Dissemination campaigns related to the city’s tourism in the new situation will be strengthened with two main messages – “Da Nang Now Open” and “Enjoy Danang”.

A cooperation agreement on boosting digital transformation in tourism promotion in Da Nang between Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre and Da Nang branch of the Vietnam Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel Da Nang) was also signed at the event.

The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected the city’s tourism industry. Statistics from the Department of Tourism showed that the city received 1.7 million visitors last year, a drop of 68.6 percent compared to 2019’s figure. Revenues generated from the accommodation, dining and travel services hit only more than 15 trillion VND (659.7 million USD), a year-on-year decrease of 40.7 percent./.
