Dau Tieng Rubber Co.Ltd.’s trade union supports workers to rebuild their houses

Over the past years, Dau Tieng Rubber Co.Ltd.’s trade union has become one of bright locations of taking care of laborers’ life. Along with assistance on loans to help workers develop homebased business, the program of “trade union house” of the company has brought new houses for laborers.

Joy from “trade union house”

Going with trade union cadres of Dau Tieng Rubber Co.Ltd., we feel joy on face of rubber laborers. Many poor worker families enjoy new houses for the coming Tet holiday.

Nguyen Ngoc Nga, born in 1982, worker of Ben Suc Rubber Plantation is very difficult. 5 years ago, her husband passed away, owing to fatal disease. Nga said that her 2 daughters were very sad after their father’s death. Thenceforth, she makes greater efforts to compensate love for them.

Aside from focusing on completing her work, she must take care of her daughters. In Oct. 2014, thanks to assistance of Ben Suc Rubber Plantation, she received VND30mil from the “Trade union house”   Fund. From this money, plus support of the plantation, she built a new house with the area of nearly 100sqm. Nga said “After difficult years, I and my daughters will the coming Tet holiday stay in new house. This is a great encouragement for me to dedicate to rubber industry”.

Nguyen Ngoc Diem, chairwoman of Ben Suc Rubber Plantation trade union said that the program of “trade union house” is widely launched plantations. The program brings significance and assistance for needy circumstances of housing.

“As a chairwoman of the trade union, I actively inspect and assess laborers’ situation of housing. Thanks to the program, laborers of the company enjoy new houses”, Diem said.

Taking care of laborers

Despite difficulties in the past year, trade union of Dau Tieng Rubber Company makes greater efforts to well take care of laborers’ life and becomes a bright location of the entire sector.

In the past year, the company trade union held excursions worth over VND10bil for nearly 1,000 cadres and workers; spent over VND3bil to buy books, newspapers and hold entertainment activities for laborers. Especially, the program of offering non-interest loans for laborers helped poor workers repair and build houses. Since 1994, the program has helped 7,768 families enjoy loans worth more than VND81bil. 

Le Van Kim, vice chairman of Dau Tieng Rubber Company’s trade union said that in the past year the company trade union timely solved policies for laborers as well as improved their material and spiritual life.

The program of trade union house alone assisted 9 needy households to repair and build new houses. Until now, the “trade union house” fund helps numerous poor families improve their living condition, creating secure in mind for laborers. The program is also a great impetus to spur production and business, contributing to minimize re-poverty and complete goal of housing for laborers.

In 2014, the company assisted 150 households to borrow non-interest loans with the total value of over VND4bil to buy building materials for housing construction as well as helped 9 families enjoy benefits from the “trade union house” program with the value of VND270mil. Until now, more than 11,000 laborers enjoy wide houses.
