To strengthen the investment in technological innovation

Tadahiro Kawada, Chairman of Directors Board of Kawada Technologies Company (Japan), said science-technology had become an increasingly important resource in heightening the competitiveness of each enterprise. Therefore, Vietnamese enterprises need to change awareness of technology's role and increase investment in technological innovation. Only with technological renovation, the production capacity and competitiveness of enterprises would be heightened in the current situation.

According to Huỳnh Quang Thanh, CEO of Hiep Long Company (Thuan An Town), due to the rising trend of modern wooden furniture and technological development, wood processing industry has reached its peak, this is the time of maturity to invest in technology. As an export strength of the province, wood processing industry is subject to increasing competitiveness, requiring early resolution of productivity, quality problems. The application of high-precision wood processing lines and diverse functions not only meets large orders but also helps enterprises reduce labor pressure.

Meanwhile, Nguyễn Thanh Nghĩa, Chairman of Directors Board of Dai Thien Loc Company, said the company had set up a new production line of cold-rolled steel sheets with a total investment of nearly VND250 billion. This production line marked a new stage of the company on the way to integration and development; timely satisfies stricter requirements of the market. The company will continue to promote the achieved results, operate efficiently to provide high-quality, competitive products for the domestic and international market.

However, many experts think that it is not enough to improve productivity just by technology application. In fact, the vision and strategy of executives is the key for a business to improve quality and productivity. Bernd Kahrert, senior consultant of HOMAG Vietnam (Germany), said that the biggest problem of Vietnamese enterprises was not technology but management thinking, strategic vision, human resources... Because technology can be change quickly by investment, the training of a human resource to have high knowledge and ability to operate new machines and technologies is unlikely to be solved overnight. If investing in production lines and modern technologies without good governance and efficient technical staff, it is a waste.
