Update: 08-01-2013 | 00:00:00

Increasing on hi-tech projects

Among US$2.6bil of FDI capital poured into the province in the past year, more than US$1.3bil was for hi-tech projects with big competitive capacity, avoiding impacts on economic downturn.

For examples, Meiwa Co.Ltd’s new projects, capitalized at $6mil, specialize in manufacturing chips, industrial robots and auto parts. Or, Dai Nippon Printing Group’s project has a total investment capital of $35mil…

Aside from new investment projects, many companies involving in producing hi-tech products have increased their production scale. For instance, Nitto Denko Co.Ltd earmarks $24.5mil in producing accurate electronic components; II-VI Vietnam Co.Ltd. spends nearly $16mil in manufacturing infrared glass…; Seebest Co.Ltd. adds $14.7mil to produce diesel engine components, accurate parts for dental sector and other fields; Aiphone Communications Co.Ltd. increases $3.8mil to invest in chip production for telecommunication sector; Uchihashi Co.Ltd. invests $4.1mil in producing induction equipments…

Notably, Japan’s Sai Gon Stec Co.Ltd. at VSIP II increases additional $175mil to expand its production and business. Earlier, this company enjoyed a stable operation with the investment capital of $340mil. Talking about the increase of investment capital amid the current context, Mr. Hidetake Senoo, the company general director, said “The global economy is in difficulty but our products have been still consumed well. Therefore, we increase investment capital to produce 225 million products per year in a bid to meet clients’ demand”.

Similarly, Japan’s Wonderful Sai Gon Electrics Co.Ltd. at VSIP I also adds $150mil in increasing its production capacity.

Efficiency from hi-tech projects

FDI capital source pouring into hi-tech fields is considered a very important factor because most of these businesses use the small quantity of manpower but create high value, increasing value of export. In addition, this is also a condition for Vietnam to keen on strong development of auxiliary industrial sector.

For instance, Matsumura Electronics Industry Vietnam Co.Ltd. just putting into operation its plant at My Phuoc 3 IP with the total capital of $6.5mil uses only several tens of workers and reaches an annual export turnover of tens of millions of dollars.

Also at My Phuoc 3 IP, Korea’s DJV Co.Ltd. specializing in liquid crystal display, auto component for the world’s big groups. With only 65 workers, the company’s export turnover reaches over $12mil per year. Or, Japan’s Vietnam Seibi Semiconductor Co.Ltd. at VSIP II using only over 50 laborers enjoys an export revenue of tens of millions of dollars per year.

In reality, most of localities desire attraction of hi-tech project investment. In Binh Duong province, the strong attraction of hi-tech projects is thanks to basic measures of giving priorities for sustainable industrial development, urging investments in hi-tech fields, spurring investment promotion, perfecting infrastructure facilities, focusing on manpower…

And, these factors are a good premise for the province to lure further hi-tech FDI projects in the coming time.
