Morning January 5, Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a meeting to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Southwestern border protection war’s victory and together with Cambodian army to defeat the genocide regime (7 Jan 1979 - 7 Jan 2019). Attending the meeting were Tran Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Head of Provincial National Assembly delegation; Mai Hung Dung, Permanent Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; together with leadership of Military Zone 7, revolutionary veteran comrades; Vietnamese heroic mothers; Heroes of the people's armed force; relatives of martyrs' families, veterans, young volunteers, people participating in Southwestern border protection war and doing international duties in Cambodia.
At the meeting, Mr. Dung affirmed that the date 7 Jan 1979 had made history as a milestone of the international solidarity; of special friendship between Vietnamese and Cambodian people; opened a new phase of the neighboring relation between the two countries. Over 40 years, the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia developed to a new height. Two-way trade turnover increased by an average of 30-40% / year and reached 3.8 billion USD in 2017. In the first 7 months of 2018, import-export turnover between the two countries reached 2.7 billion USD, up 18.7% compared to the same period in 2017. Currently, Vietnam is the third largest trading partner and the fifth largest foreign investors of Cambodia. Vietnam has over 190 investment projects in Cambodia with abroad investment certificates.
Binh Duong also carried out diplomatic activities in diverse forms to maintain and develop this relationship. The two sides regularly visit and welcome delegations; Binh Duong established brotherhood with Kandal and Kratie provinces... Binh Duong provincial People's Committee instructed provincial Military Command to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between Military Commands of Binh Duong towns, cities and Military Subdivisions of Kandal and Kratie provinces. The two sides regularly exchange information, inform the situation, share experiences, support each other in many fields; join hands to manage geographical areas, take actions in preventing drug trafficking, arms trading and other dangerous crimes. Especially the medical support, free medical examination, treatment and medicine for poor people; providing information on voluntary Vietnamese soldiers, who had died in Cambodia in wartime; creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese people living in Kandal province, Kratie province and Khmer people in Binh Duong province under the current laws of each country; cooperation, investment, social, cultural and social exchange...
