Grateful for teachers

Update: 20-11-2012 | 00:00:00

Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (Nov. 20) is coming. Society again honors teachers and generations of students have a chance to express their gratefulness to teachers.

Retired teachers are awarded “For the cause of nurturing human” insignia.

Lastly, authorities at all levels have held activities to mark the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day. Tran Tuan Kiet, vice chairman of Tan Vinh Hiep commune in Tan Uyen district, said the entire commune has 164 teachers and the local authority annually holds get-togethers for teachers to express gratefulness to teachers.

Joy on the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day has been prolonged when authorities at all levels have held get-togethers for teachers, aside from schools, units. Le Khac Tri, vice chairman of Ben Cat district People’s Committee, said “the district has been always grateful to teachers’ contributions. On the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, the local authority again holds a get-together for them and honors excellent teachers”.

Local authorities not only pay attention to teachers working at schools but to retired teachers. This indicates their respect to teachers and affirms that the principle of “Respect teachers, respect morality” has been still maintained and promoted by Vietnamese people.

Love between teachers and students have been overwhelmed when beautiful flowers are granted to teachers. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, the student of Chu Van An secondary school in Thu Dau Mot city shared “I will never forget teachers’ contribution. They give us knowledge and create our personality”.

Aside from granting beautiful flowers, students pay their gratefulness to teachers by concrete deeds. Nguyen Van Cuu, headmaster of Vo Minh Duc high school, said the school’s youth union in November launches a movement of good learning for students. Many students have changed attitude of learning to please teachers and parents. This is considered as flowers for teachers on the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day.

In Binh Duong province alone, the local administration has issued many incentive policies for teachers. The provincial People’s Committee on Aug. 15, 2011 delivered a decision to support public servants and contract employees.

At the 6th congress of the 11th Central Party Executive Committee, party general secretary Nguyen Phu Trong raised “Developments on education and training and tech-science are very important issues and considered as the country’s policy and as an impetus for socio-economic development”.
