In response to the mobilization of “Day for the poor”, the work of supporting the poor in Binh Duong province has over years brought significant deeds, helping the poor overcome difficulties.
After 10 years of implementing the “Day for the poor”, all level agencies, businesses and people in the locality have reaped encouraging results in poverty reduction work, contributing to step up the national great unity bloc. From Oct. 2000 till June, 2010, the local Fund for the poor raised about VND200bil from donors.
Thanh Le Company’s general director Dao Thi Thanh Nguyen grants a VND200mil cheque to the provincial fund for the poor.
Over the past 10 years, the Fund for the poor at all levels have built and repaired 7,549 hi-unity, charity houses and 2,479 gratitude houses as well as offered free health check-up and treatment for the poor and needy children. Particularly, the fund for the poor has offered non interest loans for local poor households with a total value of over VND800mil.
Superior Buddhist Monk Thich Minh Thien, head of the provincial Buddhist Shangha, said the mobilization of “Day for the poor” has a very profound significance and has become a great movement, going into people’s heart and winning great response from the public. The mobilization has become a cultural beauty, helping diversify the Vietnamese cultural identity.
Over the past ten years, there are many typical collectives and individuals, involving in the mobilization. The mobilization has a profound political and social significance, bringing significant profits for the poor.
