Local sports sector step by step affirms its position

Binh Duong is a locality with potentials and favorable conditions for developing sports movements. Especially, the province’s socialization of sports activities has absorbed involvement of individuals and units, bringing the local sports sector to a new height.

Impressive figures

After nearly 20 years of Binh Duong’s reestablishment, the local sports sector has reached considerable development steps. There has been a robust development in the amateur sports movement. To date, the whole province has had 28.2% of population regularly taking physical exercises, up 20.31% compared to that of 1997. The number of sports families herein has reached 24.3% of total, up 16.63% compared to that of 1997. Over the past years, physical education was also guaranteed at all schools in the province.

According to statistics, nearly 600 amateur sports tournaments are held every year. The whole province is now home to 840 sports clubs at locals’ demand for physical training. Noticeably, the local amateur sports movement has lured more and more officials, civil servants, pupils, students and armed forces.

The province has also attached special importance to fostering the local high-performance sports movement. There has been a methodical training system for athletes at all levels in the sports movement. Also upon this, the province has contributed outstanding athletes to national teams.

Every year, Binh Duong takes part in more than 100 domestic and foreign sports tournaments, winning thousands of various medals. In 2015 alone, the local sports sector grasped a total of 714 medals, including 232 gold, 209 silver and 273 bronze ones. Especially, there has been an increasing number of medals at world, Asian and regional tournaments.

According to Nguyen Phu Yen, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province’s sports sector will further improve its training task for high-performance sports movement in order to raise the local achievements at national and international tournaments, thereby striving to obtain high ranks at the 8^th National Sports Festival in 2018 and the event in the next years.

Socialization of sports promoted

Binh Duong is well-known as a locality being good at socialization of sports activities. The province has taken the lead in socialization of football. This has helped the local football reach considerable achievements. Particularly, the province won four V-league titles, three National Cup and Super Cup titles; entered the semi-final round of the AFC Cup together with other high achievements.

Following the success of the local football under socialization, Binh Duong’s female cycling team invested by Binh Duong Water Supply-Drainage and Environment Co. has so far grasped tens of gold medals at tournaments. Thanks to having a professional and methodical training system, the local sports sector has continuously generated good tennis players for national teams. Ly Hoang Nam is a typical example for this. Many other events like bodybuilding, martial art, chess, billiards and bowling have also been built based on socialization.

Other highlight in the picture of Binh Duong’s sports socialization is the organization of sports tournaments by sources of expenditure from socialization. Binh Duong Television International Football Tournament, the International 3-Cushion Billiards Tournament; Binh Duong New City Football Tournament, Binh Duong Newspaper Open Entrepreneurs Football Tournament…are typical examples for this. Many private units have also taken part in building large-scale sports works. The province has till now set up 10 sports societies and federations, including Football Federation, Motor-Bicycle Sports Federation, Vovinam Federation, Golf Association…, contributing to promoting the local sports cause.
